Immunization Requirements

Texas school and child-care facility immunization requirements are determined by the state legislature and set by the Texas Department of State Health Services, in conjunction with the Texas Education Agency.

Maintaining adequate immunization rates in schools is critical to preventing disease outbreaks and ensuring the health of Texas children.

Students cannot attend school without the appropriate documentation for the required vaccines or a valid exemption. (Texas Administrative Code §97.63)

Requirements by Grade-Level

 

For students with medical exemptions, a physician's note is required yearly. For students requesting conscience objection of immunization, a written request must be submitted to:
