CX Debate Advances to State Competition in Austin, Texas

Fairfield High School seniors Laiken Carlson and Connor Colvert have qualified for the UIL State CX Debate Tournament, which will take place March 16 and 17 at the University of Texas at Austin.
Carlson and Colvert earned their spot at the state tournament after a strong season of competition. This marks the first time a Fairfield High School team has qualified for the state CX debate tournament since 2020.
Sophomores Hudson Little and Aaron Evans also had an excellent season and earned recognition as the alternate team for the state competition.
This year’s CX debate topic asks students to examine the resolution: The United States federal government should significantly increase its exploration and or development of the Arctic.
Students spend months researching the topic, preparing evidence, and developing arguments to compete in the fast paced debate format.
The team is coached by Elizabeth Collier.
Fairfield ISD congratulates these students on their hard work and wishes them the best as they represent Fairfield High School at the state tournament.
