Accountability Ratings
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) assigns an accreditation status to each public school district and charter school in Texas. Accreditation status is based on the district’s academic accountability rating and financial accountability rating through the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). A district or charter school must be accredited by the state to operate as a Texas public school.

The School Report Cards (or SRCs), produced annually for each Texas public school campus, contain some information from the Texas Academic Performance Reports as well as some information from the Accountability Rating System for Texas Public Schools and Districts.
School Report Cards are not released until December/January after the preceding school year.
Accountability ratings are based on three domains: Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps. Use this resource to learn how each domain is calculated.

The Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR) pull together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. Performance is shown disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and socioeconomic status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics.
The 2025-26 TAPR will be available in December 2026, following the release of final accountability ratings.
