Trombone

We encourage students to have their own trombone whenever possible. However, Fairfield ISD has a limited number of school-owned instruments available for students who need one.

Mouthpieces

Students should use a small shank mouthpiece. There are two types of trombone mouthpieces—large shank and small shank—and Fairfield ISD trombones use small shank mouthpieces.

Recommended mouthpieces:

• Yamaha 48D
• Bach 6½AL (Small Shank)
• Schilke 47
• Blessing 6½AL (Small Shank)

Mouthpieces can be purchased at your local music store or online from retailers such as Amazon, Music & Arts, Woodwind & Brasswind (WWBW), and Interstate Music.
